Volunteering with Healthy n Happy has given me hope that all is not lost and that I will continue to learn something new every day

HnH Volunteer

At Healthy n Happy we pride ourselves on the dedication and time our volunteers put towards benefiting the community.

Our goal is to support people to achieve great things through volunteering: purpose, confidence, engagement, development and employment.

We aim to do this through a range of activities which support and ensure local involvement.  Having a wide array of skills and experience, our current volunteers have accomplished a remarkable amount.  We offer full training and support throughout your time with us.

Recruiting Now!

We offer a wide range of opportunities for people to get involved in and currently we have opportunities available in the following areas:

CamGlen Radio wants you!

Without volunteers the station would cease to exist as local people are involved in every facet – from producing radio programmes, to providing technical support, presenting programmes, providing broadcast assistance and much more.

Why not join our team?

We have volunteers from every age and background: this is how we ensure that CamGlen Radio is made for the community, by the community. Many of our volunteers had little or no radio experience until they came here, so you need not have experience!

Parent Cafe

Cross, cross, line, line,

Spiders crawling up your spine.

Cool breeze... tight squeeze...

And now you’ve got the shivers!

This is just one of the songs we sing at the Parent Cafe, the babies and toddlers love it and so will you!!  Singing, playing, drawing, snacking and just generally having a great time, what's not to love about volunteering in one of our cafes.

Come along for a session and see if you would be interested in volunteering with us, we promise you won't regret it!

Do you have a spare two to three hours a week?

Would you like to help older people living in your community?

ReConnect is an exciting project and is currently recruiting volunteers who can help to tackle isolation which affects so many in our local community.  The volunteer would help support an individual to get out and about, helping them access services and activities.

As well as supporting older residents this project is an ideal opportunity for volunteers to increase their own social networks, learn and develop skills and access training that will enable them to fulfill this exciting role.

Handy Folk "Making Things for Your Community"

Do you like making things and being creative?

Do you like learning and sharing skills?

Do you live in Cambuslang or Rutherglen and want to help your local community?

The Handy Folk are simply a group of local people who enjoy building garden furniture, from bird boxes to picnic benches and anything else they can, as long as they have the materials to do so.  All the wood they use is donated or second hand and they are always looking for more.

You don’t need to have any prior experience but enthusiasm to learn and try something new is very welcome.  The Handy Folk range from 20 years to 90 years, it has both men and women and people with and without experience of making things.  Lots of the products are made from wood but there are no limits to what we can build, imagination and enthusiasm is all you need.

Of all the tools we have, the most important one is of course the kettle, and it’s around this that the good stuff happens!!

Volunteering in your Community

Been through our list and still not sure what to do?

Being a community volunteer might just be the way to go!

We support communities in 3 dedicated areas – SpringhallWhitlawburn and Burnhill – to make positive changes for the local neighbourhoods, ensure residents and services are linked to each other, support the community to develop new activities and events as well as host family information days, training courses etc.

Your input into our work within our Supporting Communities Team would be of such value to us and in turn be very rewarding for you.

The role could involve a range of different tasks/duties

  • Designing leaflets and assisting with leaflet drops
  • Representing your community at meetings
  • Helping plan or assisting at events
  • Spreading the word on what’s on in your community……

You can spend an hour, a day, a week helping us out – your free time is precious, we appreciate any support you give and in turn we will support you to enhance your volunteering journey with us.  Any relevant training will be offered to you and will have a dedicated worker who will support you in your journey at all times.

If you are looking to develop a group or organise a community event in your own local area, we are can provide you with advice on this.

In the first instance please call Jan on 0141-646-0123 or email
